Humidity Sensors 1 Year Limited Warranty
(Includes models 5102C, 5102CHH, 5103V, 5103VHH and all custom
and special models)
All versions of the Thermalogic humidity sensor/transmitters are limited to
a 1-year warranty. The sensing element used in these models is a moisture
permeable plastic film. The relative humidity sensor has an inherently
limited service life due to degradation by natural airborne chemicals. Long
term exposure of the relative humidity sensor to certain chemicals and gases
may affect the characteristics of the sensor and shorten its life. For this
reason, Thermalogic is unable to extend its normal 4 year warranty to these
sensors.
Chemicals
In addition, there are chemicals that will damage the plastic film sensor
immediately or over a short span of time and should not be introduced into
the atmosphere around the sensor tip nor used to clean any part of the
transmitter. This includes the residual vapors remaining after cleaning a
confined area where the humidity sensor is mounted. These chemicals include
but are not limited to; ammonia or ammonia based cleaning solutions,
acetone, toluene or any cleaning solution containing these chemicals,
organic solvents, alone or in solution, household and industrial cleaning
fluids, such as Fantastic, etc., aggressive chemicals including SO2, H2SO4,
H2S, HCL, CL2, etc. (in straight or diluted form), weak acids and bases.
Any sensor/transmitter that has been damaged by exposure to these or similar
chemicals cannot be repaired under warranty
EMF and RMI Considerations
Thermalogic model humidity sensor/transmitters are shielded against moderate
levels of EMI, such as cellular telephones, portable radios and other low
power equipment. However, any device or equipment which subjects the
transmitter to high radio frequency fields, such as a nearby TV-Radio tower,
or discharges, such as nearby spot-welders or spark-gaps, will probably
cause damage and void the warranty.
High Salt Air Concentration
When installed in close proximity of the ocean of other large bodies of salt
water (e.g. Great Salt Lake), a coating of salt (mostly NaCl) may build up
on the sensor element over time. NaCl has an affinity for water. The
humidity over a saturated NaCl solution is 75%. A buildup of salt delays the
response to atmospheric humidity and may destroy the element over time.
Please see cleaning guidelines below.
Cleaning the Sensor Element
Do not try and dry the sensor with compressed air of placing sensor in an
oven. The unit will be damaged and the warranty will be void if the sensor
is exposed to ambient temperature in excess of 70C (158F) or if it is
exposed to pressures exceeding atmospheric pressure.
Exclusions from Warranty
This warranty is contingent upon, but not limited to, proper use of the
product by Purchaser. This warranty does not apply to products which have
been incorrectly installed or which have been subjected improperly to
extreme operating or environmental conditions; to products subjected to
modification, tampering, or repair by any party other than THERMALOGIC; or
to products damaged by negligence, casualty, improper service, or
maintenance. The warranty also does not apply to products damaged during
shipment, or as a result of the purchaser's failure to comply with any of
the procedures specified in the product's Operators Manual. This warranty
does not apply to failure caused by normal wear and tear, or to physical
damage to components which may occur during normal use.
